About this course
Core Food Manufacturing Onboarding is the first course every new employee should complete before entering a food production environment. It brings together the foundational concepts a new hire needs on day one: personal hygiene expectations, basic Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), general plant safety rules, and an introduction to why food safety culture matters at every level of the operation.
Food manufacturers operating in the United States are subject to the FDA's Current Good Manufacturing Practice requirements under 21 CFR Part 117, established through the FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA). These rules exist because employee behavior on the floor — handwashing, clothing, reporting illness, avoiding contamination of product contact surfaces — directly affects whether food leaving the facility is safe to eat. Onboarding is where that behavior gets set.
This course is intended for all employees, regardless of role, entering a food manufacturing, processing, or warehouse environment for the first time, including temporary and contract staff who will be on the production floor.
After completing this course, learners will understand basic plant hygiene rules, know how to identify and report unsafe conditions, understand why documentation and following procedures matters, and be prepared to move into role-specific food safety training such as HACCP, allergen awareness, or GMP modules.
